Gary Gilchrist, founder and head coach of the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy was today named to GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America.
The national publication selects only the 100 most elite teachers in the industry to receive the distinguished award.
In a coaching career that spans more than 20 years, Gilchrist has been responsible for recruiting, training and developing more top-ranked junior-level golfers than any other coach in the business. His illustrious coaching career includes teaching more than 75 American Junior Golf Association All-Americans, six AJGA Players of the Year and two U.S. Amateur champions among others. He currently coaches big names such as Morgan Hoffmann, Peter Hanson and Vicky Hurst, as well as Yani Tseng and Shanshan Feng, the No. 1 and 4 ranked females in the world respectively, who have combined to win six major under Gilchrist since 2010.
Simply put, Gilchrist’s name is synonymous with golf.
“It is quite an honor to be recognized as one of GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America,” said Gilchrist. “My students and our coaching staff have played a big role in where I am today, helping to shape not only the Academy, but me as a teacher as well. We have all worked very hard, and this honor proves that we’re continuing to be successful.”
GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America is selected out of more than 28,000 PGA of America members. Only the 100 leading teachers are recognized as the best of the best.
Top 100 Teachers in America winners were announced on November 11, 2012 at the publication’s annual retreat. The full list will debut in the February/March 2013 issue of GOLF Magazine.
