GGGA students Thomas Yint, Jorge Villar win FCWT Plantation

GGGA student Thomas Yint fired a career best 5-under 67 to come from behind to win the FCWT at Plantation while fellow GGGA student Jorge Villar held on to his first round lead to bring home the win.
Yint, of Burma and who is a student in the Full-Time Junior Program at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, played a stellar final round to come from three back and overtake fellow GGGA student Santiago Lopez in the Boys 16-19 Division for his first win.
In the final round Sunday, Yint came right out of the gates hitting on all cylinders as he picked up birdies at Nos. 1, 2 and 4. He then parred his way in, making the turn at 3 under. Yint quickly added another birdie on 11 and later added birdies on Nos. 15 and 16 with his only blemish a lone bogey on No. 13. Yint carded a 5-under 67 to finish the event at 6-under 138 for the two-shot win.
Lopez, of Mexico, went on to tie for second at 4-under 140, while fellow GGGA students Eduardo Coghlan, also of Mexico, took fourth and Rafael Barnoya, of Guatemala, and Yan Peng, of China, tied for fifth.
In the Boys 13-15 Division, Jorge Villar, also is also a student in the Full-Time Junior Program at GGGA, played steady golf from the get go to cruise to his second win of the year.
Villar, of Mexico and who won the Doral-Publix Junior Golf Classic in the fall, grabbed a one-shot lead after carding a 1-under 71 in the first round Saturday.
After facing a tough stretch to close out his front nine, Villar grabbed three birdies on the back nine at Nos. 11, 12 and 16 to card an even-par 72 and finish the event at 1-under 143 for a five-shot win.
In the Girls 13-18 Division, GGGA students took spots two through five on the leaderboard.
Anna Sophia Bohmer, of Colombia and who committed to FSU in the fall, took second at 4-over 148, while fellow GGGA students Ching-Ling Chang, of Taiwan, took third, Yuka Kajiki, of Japan, took fourth and Mami Yamamoto, also of Japan, took fifth.
